CocoRosie – Gravediggress // Folk Pop

Another release from CocoRosie, after their last release We Are on Fire. This time they announced something super exciting! Their new album “Tales of a Grass Widow” will be released in late May, for now we have this new song, Gravediggress, so obsess over. First off, the art is a little frightening, which is no surprise from these talented sisters. The song incorporates an awesome a capella beat box. Absorb the sound below and get psyched for the new album!

Kat Dahlia – Gangsta // Dope Female Rapper

I always love stumbling across female rap artist, especially ones as talented as Kat Dahlia. Her voice is so soulful and powerful and her flow is phenomenal, plus she is super fucking sexy!  Gangsta is about her father and family and hard times, at the same time calling out all the “gangstas.” The piano rift is addicting and the video is bad ass just like Kat. Her outfits are super awesome as well, this girl has style! Check it out below and absorb the sound. Also check out the acoustic version here.

Jim Guthrie – Trust // Indie Game Soundtrack

Jim Guthrie is from Canada and I had no idea he existed until I watched the movie Indie Game: the Movie and fell in love with the soundtrack which I would learn later on was done by him. Turns out he has a lot of albums that are all spectacular and available on his band camp, he also did the soundtrack for Swords & Sorcery, a fun indie game to play if you get the chance. The song that caught my ear enough for me to do the research was the song “Trust” which is off his A Thousand Songs album and plays during the credits of Indie Game: The Movie. If you have ever wanted to cheer up, all you would need to do is listen:

RDGLDGRN – EP // Alternative Hip-Hop

Trust me when I say that this trio is about to explode onto the alternative scene. This group released I Love Lamp a while back, still one of my favorite songs, and then went into hiding for a little, but now they are back, and this time with a four song EP. They have a very unique sound which mixes Hip-Hop and alternative, you know, playing real instruments and things. Their EP is available on iTunes and is so worth the $5. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters is featured for the drums on Doing the Most!! Grab it now and look out for more stuff from these guys. Also, if you are going to any Warped Tour, they are scheduled as of now to be at all the dates, so make sure to go and absorb their sound when you get a break from moshing!

Rhye – The Fall // Downtempo Indie

This duo out of L.A. released this beautiful, calm tune recently and the great visual aid to go along with it. From great opening line: “Make love to it,” to the very end, you are brought into another world of legato. The video, an older gentleman reminiscing the days of his early age that are no longer with him. Check it out and absorb the sound. Their EP is out on itunes.

Sol – Sometime in April // Chill Hip-Hop

Sol is back! Literally! After 10 months, Sol is coming back from his trip around the world. Well sometime in April that is. He left us with a track, and now he gives us track on his way back. This one is called Sometime in April, of course talking about his trip and his return. Check out the track and get psyched for this very talented artist’s return. Absorb the sound.

Coachella Music Festival // Lineup 2013

Well its that time of the year again where I hate my friends for living in California and hate myself for living in Florida. Coachella is back and this year is insane! Aside from the big names like Chili Peppers and Modest Mouse and Bassnectar and Pretty Lights, there are some smaller guys you should be checking out and seeing if you are going.

Gotta get that D. Francis up that Cochella shit. He’s been making all new tracks in 2013.

Dog Blood aka SKRILLEX & Boys Noize’s band!! Really unique track

Kids These Days of Chicago, fantastic young Hip-Hop group

Local Natives of L.A., sweet indie rock crew

Purity Ring, and amazing duo that put on a great show

Alt-J straight out of Britain ya’ll!

Savages also from London, all-female bad ass punk-rock mothafuckas

There are so many more but I’ll stop there. This lineup is so loaded, some bands are unknown to me and I’m sure they are fantastic as well. Some more honorable mentions include: Danny Brown, Two Chainz, Wolfgang Gartner, EARL, Pusha-T, Major Lazer, Mimosa, fucking Wu-Tang Clan, Vampire Weekend, the xx, Grizzly Bear, Knife Party, Two Door Cinema, Of Monsters and Men, Divine Fits, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and so many others. For those of you who can make it, have fun and I envy you! to those who can’t, well you are stuck like me listening to soundcloud and dreaming.

G-Eazy ft. Carnage – Loaded // Rap Video

G-Eazy has gotten a lot of attention very fast lately, collaborating with big names like Skizzy Mars, Hoddie Allen, Cisco Adler, and others. I can’t help but love G-Eazy. From his unique voice, to his sharp looks, and classy style, he is amazing. He just released his video for Loaded ft. Carnage and whats not to love about it? It has asses, the beach, champagne, and yes, a fucking zebra. Check out the video below and absorb the sound.
