Well its that time of the year again where I hate my friends for living in California and hate myself for living in Florida. Coachella is back and this year is insane! Aside from the big names like Chili Peppers and Modest Mouse and Bassnectar and Pretty Lights, there are some smaller guys you should be checking out and seeing if you are going.
Gotta get that D. Francis up that Cochella shit. He’s been making all new tracks in 2013.
Dog Blood aka SKRILLEX & Boys Noize’s band!! Really unique track
Kids These Days of Chicago, fantastic young Hip-Hop group
Local Natives of L.A., sweet indie rock crew
Purity Ring, and amazing duo that put on a great show
Alt-J straight out of Britain ya’ll!
Savages also from London, all-female bad ass punk-rock mothafuckas
There are so many more but I’ll stop there. This lineup is so loaded, some bands are unknown to me and I’m sure they are fantastic as well. Some more honorable mentions include: Danny Brown, Two Chainz, Wolfgang Gartner, EARL, Pusha-T, Major Lazer, Mimosa, fucking Wu-Tang Clan, Vampire Weekend, the xx, Grizzly Bear, Knife Party, Two Door Cinema, Of Monsters and Men, Divine Fits, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and so many others. For those of you who can make it, have fun and I envy you! to those who can’t, well you are stuck like me listening to soundcloud and dreaming.

I haven’t heard from Bassnectar since his Freestyle Mixtape and Freestyle EP was release a while back. So, every so often Bassnectar has a tendency to reinvent himself every so often. The amazing part is he never leaves his roots behind in process, I respect him alot for that.
Rez (Bassnectar Remix) is a re-imagining of the Bassnectar sound, this time more atmospheric and misty, and, but not surprisingly, chill. I love it. How could you not.

So I started to DJ.
These are the two mixes I’ve made since I started doing this, feedback would be great. The 30 minute Mix is a mixture of trap, DnB, dubstep, electro all thrown together. I love making music this way, I’ve never felt so connected. I Hope you Enjoy my mix.

We posted on Bassnectars Freestyle Mixtape sometime last week, a creative mixture of dubstep-trap elements. Bassnectar always throws down. Bassnectar has two sides: his music and his drops. His drops are always true-to-roots, sharp, old school wobbles. But, his music before and after this moment is what develops and changes. This track, to me, marks the moment that Bassnectar mastered the formula of well rounded, fully sounding beat. Appreciate this man, his one of the greatest and most unique.
Not to mention he does a live show, (no preset tracklist) every time he performs. He also performed along side Pretty Lights as he sold his first show at Alpharetta, Georgia, a momentous night in his career and in EDM History. Enjoy the cultural grow around you.

Basnectar goes hard in the mutha fuckin’ paint with the release of his Freestyle Mixtape. It includes tons of new originals and remixes as well as a few old tracks. He was nice enough to give it out for free too. Although, I have been having troubling finding the tracks online, the mixtape is fresh great mix not only expressing Bassnectar’s styles but gives a little more street cred for doing something old school (instead of putting out a commercialized ‘album’). Check out the tape, enjoy the music and as always,

Bassnectar has remixed his collaboration with Lupe Fiasco. Essentially, Vava Voom (Bassnectar Remix) contains two differences, more detail overall: snare, beeps and bloops, and hip-hop vocal are all heightened. Basically it’s what Bassnectar does when he mixes live; he takes the track to the next level. Is better or worse? Hard to say, just different. I dig it, I hope you do too.
Here is what Mr. Lorin (Bassnectar) had to say about it.
“This version is deeper and thicker with big 808 beats and a synth line that sounds like a rabid mosquito. It’s actually the original version of Vava Voom’s hip hop section, which was intended to be finished last fall, but I added too many layers and took it to new places, so this is a return to the original feel that Vava Voom was gonna have.”
Along with Vava Voom (Bassnectar Remix) Bassnectar released a bootleg of Wid Wid Da Maka. The track is hard to explain, it definatly has Bassnectar percussion in it, the vocals are robotic and dark.

Bassnectar does it again! This new remix is filled with 8-bit electro sounds., reggaetone upbeats, and downright rage-ness. If you’re a fan of what he does than you know this The Kids Will Have Their Say (Bassnectar Remix) is killer (espicially compared to his last release [no offense]). The world loves you, Bassnectar.

The title says it all. Sex Ray Visions remix of So Beautiful is so beautiful. I have to admit , I miss when Sex Ray Vision was a duo, there hip-hop originals and remixes were amazing. Anyway, that is the past. Ravi Parikh ‘s twist on this track gives it a whole new feel. It ups the trance feeling from the original and the keyboards give it a more melodic taste.

I love the Watch the Throne album that Jay-Z and Kayne collaberated on, every track on that album is phenomenal. Now they have come out with the first video of 2012 for the track No Church in the Wild. Although they don’t make an appearance in the video, it doesn’t take away from the fact that the video is bad ass . Set in modern times, this video contains passion filled rioters in Europe. The fight and struggle and it’s all in slow motion. It pretty bad ass and it reminds me of what Greece must be going through with their financial collapse happening. Watch this shit.
