Jon Bellion is a man of different hats..sort of. His sound dabbles into hip-hop, r&b, and soft pop. His music video “Paper Planes” impacted me late 2012 and since then he’s never been off my radar. Translations Through Speakers takes it to the next level. Fresh beats and flow, ambient sounds and delayed vocal effects, and a soothing slow tempo. Each track carries it’s own persona and translates well to the listener.
Shouts out to thissongissick.com for this one. They introduced me to The Underachievers new music video “The Mahdi” last week and now the duo has dropped their new mixtape. I gotta let Nick for TSIS explain it:
“The Underachievers made up of the young duo of AK and Issa Dash based out of New York have just released their debut mixtape Indigoism. The are apart of the Beast Coast Movement alongside Joey Bada$$ and his Pro Era collective, Flatbush Zombies, and the A$AP Mob, who are all collectively helping prove that real hip-hop is both alive and on the rise. Although the group is based out of NY, they have signed with indie label Brainfeede based out of LA, founded founded by beat music legend Flying Lotus. Indigoism is instantly a release that stands out amongst all the noise that gets released so regularly. For all 17 tracks of their first tape to have so much flow filled wordplay and on point lyricism, other rappers should be scared. We got to sample Herb Shuttles and The Mahdi, and there are a few other stand out tracks like Gold Soul Theory, T.A.D.E.D., Leopard Sheppard, Maxing Out & So Devilish. You would be doing yourself wrong if you did not pick up the whole tape and fall in love with it. “
Very different sounding. Not the typical Zed’s Dead sound you are used. Hot Sauce EP is very spread out and not many hooks. There’s a certain darkeness that is carried within the melodies. Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is the Mad Decent Zed’s Dead, everyone is diversifying their sound so here’s Zed’s Dead’s take on the trend.
There’s some serious hype behind this track, all over blogs and twitter, ect. For a good reason to. Killing Switch (Sound Remedy Remix) is summed up into one word: Original. There no typical drum intro or trippy keyboard. The construction of the song is captivating with effects that sound like they were meant to go together. Great track from beginning to end. Especially the piano outro…wow.
Dubstep sometimes may seem repetitive, but Adoxe reminds you why you love the genre. A truly melodic twist on some seriously bass-infused tracks. Candence is a beautiful construction of atmosphere, ambiance, and Dubstep. I couldn’t find much else about this artist; the Soundcloud page is blank, and his music is uploaded via 3rd party music blogs. I hope to hear more from them soon.
Based out of Brooklyn, Trap Phenomenon Baauer has developed a reputation for producing nasty trap. After “Slip” was premiered on Diplo’s BBC Radio 1Xtra people have been gettin’ rambunctious. A audio rip of the track has popped up on YouTube but keep your eyes people for a FULL EP release of Baauer’s upcoming EP via LuckyMe Records.
Here is a new track from Neat Beats, a DJ out of San Diego. Graffiti on a Tuesday Night consists of a simple drum loop intertwined with violin, piano, and acoustic guitar. Neat Beats, aka Alvin Fenner, plays a variety of sound blips over the track creating a beautiful, chill. Check it out and grab the download.
Skrills just dropped the Official Video to Summit ft. Ellie Goulding. The two dated at one point and was one of the most watched relationships of 2012. Although they broke up, THAT DON”T MEAN NO MUSIC VIDEO! So here ya go. Basically a series of playful events and cute girls, then shit gets real choppy..you’ll see. Cheers.
Here is a lovely remix of Adventure Club’s song Need Your Heart. I loved the original and I love this fresh new look on it, its very laid back and heavy with the synth. Minnesota, and artist out of Santa Cruz, is new to me and after hearing this little treat he will stay on my radar. Download the freebie and enjoy!
Kids These Days dropped their debut album and it is up for free on their website! This album is hard to describe because it is so unique and diverse and amazing. In fact I’m so amazed that I’m not going to say anything else but this: Give it a listen and download it for free, you won’t regret it.
